I try not to talk about politics. It can be so divided. But what happened this election year has made me realize I live amongst stupid people.
So, yes, Trump voters. You destroyed our country. Here’s why:
- Women’s health, including reproductive health: you voted to strip away our rights to OUR bodies. You voted to let a woman die because of a miscarriage that didn’t complete, thus causing an infection and causing her to become septic and die. You voted to make a girl raped by a family member and got pregnant to keep the fetus that will just traumatize her all over again. You have read the news of women dying in waiting rooms as they bled out. You voted to force a woman to carry a dead fetus, rotting flesh, in her body. That is none of your business. You voted to abolish contraception – which is not just for preventing pregnancies, but also to regulate other issues a woman may be having.
- Immigration: You voted to strip away the chances of immigrants to become US citizens, strip away the citizenships of those who are POC naturalized US citizens, take a US born child of an immigrant of their citizenship.
- You voted for someone who said he would be a dictator on Day 1: do you know how terrifying that sounds? Did you not learn about WHY WW 2 started? Why would you want that atrocity to happen here?
- Israel & Palestine: Trump doesn’t care what Israel does to Palestine. If you voted against Kamala Harris for that reason alone, you’re complicit in the impending doom of the Palestinians.
- Ukraine: The US will stop supplying weapons to Ukraine to keep Russia from taking over. WW 3 is imminent.
- China: They want to take over Taiwan and a body of water that rightfully belongs to the Philippines. That could also cause WW 3.
- Guns: Everyone will be able to purchase a firearm without being vetted. Open carry will be more popular. Do you know how terrifying it would be if someone with a gun drinks too much at a bar? You say that all mass shootings are caused by mental illness, but yet you just made it easier for the mentally ill with homicidal tendencies to obtain firearms. Also, your representatives have blocked any bills that address improving mental health.
- Abolishing the Department of Education: Why would you want to live in a country where everyone isn’t educated? Why should the filthy rich people have all the opportunities to provide quality education for their children? I get that he loves the poorly educated – and you all didn’t think
- Taking Away Overtime: You spout that Trump wouldn’t tax overtime hours but at the same time he wants to take away your opportunity to gain overtime hours.
- Tariffs: Contrary to what you think you know about tariffs, the costs gets passed down to the consumers as business owners have to pay for those tariffs when purchasing goods from overseas.
- Healthcare: Get rid of Medicaid and Medicare? A whole lot of you live in the poorest parts of the country and are probably on Medicaid. The ACA made it law that insurance companies can’t turn you away for pre-existing conditions. Guess what’s a pre-existing condition? Pregnancy. Let that sink in. That insulin you need for your diabetes won’t be capped at $35 anymore . You’ll have to go back to paying hundreds a month. The pills that are keeping you alive? The prices will go up. We’re all going to die because we can’t afford our medication.
- Social Security: Yes, take away the only income you’ve got. Or worked your whole life for to be entitled to the measly amount they send you every month. Also, social security isn’t just for retirees, it’s for people with disabilities that hinder them from obtaining a full-time job. Good job.
- Food Stamps: People in red states are the biggest recipients of food stamps. You’re already complaining about the prices of food going up but you voted for someone who wants to take away the one thing that’s keeping you from starving.
I could go on and on about this but there’s just too many to cover. I hope you all can live with the choice you made. People like me, a woman and POC, will suffer because of your choice. Disabled people will suffer because of your choice. YOU will suffer because of your choice.
I am just completely done and I have to now accept that I live in a country where the majority of the population are racists, sexist, and bigots.
